Honai is the traditional house of the Papuan Dani tribes. There are various kinds of Dani’s honai. They may look similar but they evidently have different functions and purposes. For male, the shape of Honai likes a dome. The female honai looks not shaped like a dome, because is attached with pig farm and family kitchen. There are five (5) types of honai based on their functions and purposes, ‘sele’mac used for common customary ritual (ritual adat) , wesama honai as a sacred honai indeed, Public honai designed for anybody to enter, ‘eweai honai’ (women honai) and ‘ hulupipi’ as multi functions can be occupied by two to three families sometimes like club.
