West Papua’s rice stock is sufficient until October 2020.

West Papua (AP) –  After calculate accurately, Head of Regional Division of National Logistic Body (Perum Bulog) of Papua and West Papua Provinces, Akhmad Kholisun, accompanied by the Head of Regional Office for Logistics Bureau, Dwi Yuniarko, stated a rice stock in Papua is appropriate to meet the needs of the community for the next 3 months or as many as 31,000 tons. He explained that the rice stock would continue to grow, because it is in the process of procurement, specifically in the areas of Merauke, Manokwari and Nabire.

The average amount of procurement is currently between 250 tons to 350 tons per day, so the current position of rice stock is very safe. Additional procurement is still underway or in the process of moving from East Java to approximately 12,000 tons.

Specifically, rice needs during the Covid-19 pandemic, he revealed, there is an increase in rice distribution through market operations, around 15 to 20 percent from the previous month. “Yes, still under control,” as he saying.
